ABSTRACT This study aims to describe the roles, responsibilities, and the forms of collaboration and participation of school principals in the implementation of School-Based Management (SBM). SBM is a managerial approach that grants greater autonomy to schools in managing resources independently and participatively. This case study was conducted at SD Negeri 1 Tukadmungga using a descriptive qualitative approach through semi-structured interviews with the principal and one teacher. The results show that the principal plays a strategic role as an educational leader, administrative manager, facilitator, motivator, and agent of change. In terms of responsibility, the principal is primarily in charge of budget planning, management and reporting of BOS (School Operational Assistance) funds, and the development of human resource capacity. Additionally, the principal actively involves school stakeholders in decision-making and program evaluation processes to ensure transparency, accountability, and effective school management. By carrying out these roles and responsibilities optimally, the principal becomes a driving force in improving the quality of education in the school environment.
