The role of teachers in elementary school learning is crucial in developing students’ critical thinking skills. In the 21st century, critical thinking is an essential skill for students, especially at the elementary level. Developing critical thinking skills is part of the teacher’s responsibility to improve the quality of education and human resources, particularly in Indonesia. Effective strategies are therefore needed by teachers to foster these skills. Such strategies serve as a means for teachers to nurture critical thinking, particularly in elementary school students. This study aims to describe the strategies used by teachers in developing the critical thinking skills of students in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) or elementary schools. The method employed in this study is a literature review. The study is based on the understanding and analysis of existing literature. The results indicate that there are specific strategies used by teachers to enhance the critical thinking skills of MI/elementary school students.
