This research is based on the phenomenon of increasing gadget use among elementary school students, which may affect their social development. The study aims to examine the impact of gadget use on the social development of sixth-grade students at SDN 70 Pekanbaru, located in the Payung Sekaki District. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation conducted directly with informants in the field. Data analysis was carried out using the Interactive Model, which is commonly used in qualitative descriptive research. The findings reveal that excessive use of gadgets has a negative impact on students' social development, such as a decline in interaction skills, increased individualistic behavior, and decreased empathy toward peers. This condition is exacerbated by the lack of parental supervision regarding gadget use at home. Therefore, schools are expected to provide various activities that can stimulate children's social development, while parents need to enhance their supervision of gadget use in the home environment.
