Education is a dynamic force that strongly influences the future of humanity and serves as a crucial foundation for a nation’s society. It plays an essential role in strengthening a country, as education enables human resources to be empowered in managing natural potential optimally. This research was motivated by the low activeness and limited understanding of students in science learning, which was still teacher-centered. To overcome this, the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model was applied to the topic of Light and Its Properties in grade V at MI Baserah. This study employed a qualitative method using observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. The research subjects were 28 fifth-grade students (13 boys and 15 girls). The findings showed that the implementation of PjBL enhanced students’ engagement, motivation, and learning outcomes. Students became more active in discussions, experiments, and project presentations, making their understanding of light concepts more concrete. Teachers also observed improvements in students’ scientific attitudes, collaboration, and responsibility in completing projects. Therefore, PjBL proved effective in improving science learning outcomes across cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. This model is in line with the Merdeka Curriculum, which emphasizes active, creative, collaborative, and enjoyable learning.
