This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Make a Match cooperative learning model in improving science concept understanding among sixth-grade students at SDN Mangli 1 Jember. This study is a classroom action research (CAR). The results show that the application of the Make a Match model has a positive impact on student activity and engagement during the learning process. Students are more active in finding pairs of question-answer cards, discussing, and working together in groups. An increase in learning motivation can be seen from the enthusiasm and higher participation of students in each meeting. In addition, there was a significant increase in science concept understanding, as indicated by an increase in learning scores in each cycle. These findings indicate that Make a Match is an effective learning strategy for creating an interactive, collaborative, and enjoyable learning atmosphere that can support the optimal achievement of student competencies.
