This study aims to analyze the availability and utilization of maps as learning media in Social Studies subjects in class VIII F SMP 2 Bae Kudus. In addition, this study also aims to identify teachers' efforts in utilizing maps as learning media, assessing students' interest in map learning through questionnaire results, and measuring students' level of understanding before and after using the media. The research method used is quantitative research with data obtained through a questionnaire in the form of an offline questionnaire which was then given and filled in by students of class VIII F SMP 2 Bae Kudus. Based on the results of the study, when teachers use maps as learning media in class VIII F SMP 2 Bae Kudus, the results show that 30% of students really understand, 55% of students understand, and 15% of students do not understand. This can be interpreted that maps as learning media are very helpful to improve student understanding, because the media can help students understand the material conveyed by the teacher more easily.
