Digital transformation has reshaped how young generations access and interpret cultural heritage, including traditional music. However, the use of traditional music as a digital-based cultural education medium remains limited and is often confined to ceremonial contexts. This study aims to examine the revitalization of Nias traditional music as a digital-based cultural education medium for young people. A qualitative approach with a literature-based case study design was employed. Data were collected through the analysis of scholarly journal articles, academic books, and policy documents related to traditional music, cultural education, and digital media. The findings indicate that presenting traditional music through digital media, such as interactive multimedia and augmented reality, has the potential to enhance learning interest, engagement, and cultural awareness among young learners. Nevertheless, challenges persist, including infrastructural limitations, teachers’ readiness, and young people’s perceptions of the relevance of local music. This study highlights that the digital-based revitalization of Nias traditional music serves not only as a cultural preservation effort but also as an adaptive educational strategy in the digital era.
