The rapid development of digital technology in recent decades has significantly transformed various aspects of human life, including education. One of the most prominent innovations is Artificial Intelligence (AI). This study aims to examine the patterns of AI usage among students, evaluate its contribution to the learning process, and analyze its impact on critical thinking skills and intellectual independence. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive-critical method to understand the phenomenon contextually. The findings indicate that the use of AI among students of Universitas Hein Namotemo provides easier access to information, improves efficiency in completing academic tasks, and enhances understanding of course materials. AI functions as a tool that supports learning effectiveness and academic productivity. However, these advantages are accompanied by a tendency toward intellectual dependency, reflected in declining critical thinking skills and reduced reflective learning processes among students.
