A multilingual environment is a common phenomenon in higher education institutions, including at Medan State University (UNIMED). The diversity of languages used by students, such as Indonesian, Karo, Nias, and various other regional languages, impacts individual language skills. This study aims to analyze the Multilingual Environment as a Means of Developing UNIMED Students' Language Skills. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results show that a multilingual environment has a positive influence on improving language skills, especially in vocabulary, cross-cultural understanding, and communication skills. However, there are also negative impacts such as language interference and excessive code-mixing. Thus, appropriate learning strategies are needed to maximize the benefits of a multilingual environment.
