Student learning activeness in science subjects at SMP Yapend Bungaya Makassar remains low due to the dominance of conventional, teacher-centered learning methods. This study aims to improve student learning activeness on the Solar System topic through the implementation of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach assisted by Wordwall media. This study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles. The research subjects were seventh-grade students of SMP Yapend Bungaya Makassar in the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through a learning activeness observation sheet covering five indicators (visual, oral, writing, mental, and emotional activeness) and a CTL implementation observation sheet, then analyzed using descriptive quantitative methods. The results revealed a cyclical improvement in student learning activeness: from the inactive category in the pre-cycle, improving to moderately active in Cycle I, and reaching the active category in Cycle II. The integration of the seven CTL components with Wordwall’s interactive gamification was proven effective in creating a contextual, interactive, and enjoyable learning atmosphere that significantly promoted active student engagement in science learning.
