This study examines the use of sambiloto leaves as traditional medicine among the Lampung community through an ethnoscience approach and its potential as a contextual resource in science learning. The objectives are to explore local knowledge, describe processing methods, and analyze its relevance for science education. A qualitative method was employed using literature review and semi-structured interviews with community members. The results indicate that sambiloto leaves are still widely used to enhance immunity, reduce inflammation, lower fever, and treat respiratory infections, with simple preparation methods such as boiling or processing into herbal drinks. This knowledge has been passed down through generations and remains trusted by the community. Scientifically, its effectiveness is supported by bioactive compounds such as andrographolide, which exhibit antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory properties. These findings highlight the connection between local knowledge and scientific concepts, suggesting its potential integration into science learning, particularly in biodiversity and plant metabolism topics. The ethnoscience approach supports more meaningful and contextual learning while enhancing students’ scientific literacy and critical thinking skills.
